Realistic elements, but clunky controls hold back the experience
While playing Supercross 2000 on the Nintendo 64, I noticed that the game attempts to bring the thrill of motocross racing into the living room. What I like is that it features realistic elements, such as official riders and tracks. However, the experience is somewhat dampened by the clunky controls and an awkward physics engine, causing the racers to respond in unexpected ways at times. This can be quite frustrating, especially when you're really getting into the race.
Graphically, Supercross 2000 is fairly decent for its time, although I must say the environments look a bit bare and repetitive. This takes away some of the atmosphere you would expect from an exciting racing game. The commentary voices and sound effects are a nice addition and contribute to the overall vibe, although they don’t always enhance the action on screen.
All in all, Supercross 2000 does have a certain charm, especially for fans of the motocross genre. Still, I miss the smoothness and speed that a truly thrilling racing game should have. It's a fun game to try out, but don’t expect a groundbreaking experience.
